1. There seems to be a problem with my product. What do I do?

Check the Troubleshooting section of your manual or on our website. If you do not have your product manual, go to our Manuals page on our website where you may download it. If the problem persists, you may need to return the product to the location where you purchased it; you will need to provide a receipt or other proof of purchase. Please see the Terms and Condition page on our website.

2. What types of discs are supported by Avayon players?

CD, CD-RW, audio CD, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW are supported on all Avayon players.

4. What video codecs are supported by Avayon players?

The Avayon DXP-1000 supports all video codecs that comply with the normal specifications of ISO-MPEG4 - Advanced, Simple Profile (DivX 4.x and 5.x comply with this standard) The Nero Digital Codec is supported as well. In addition XVID and DivX 3.11 are also supported.

Avayon players support Standard CD audio, MP3, and WMA (V7, V8, V9) audio formats.

At this time, our products are set for use in the United States. Under certain circumstances and considerations it may be possible to reconfigure the product for other geographies.

7. How do I check which of the latest updates my machine has?

For the DXP-1000, with disk tray open, hit the “GoTo” button on the remote and the information will appear on your TV screen. For the Portable Players, turn on the player without a disk in the tray and punch in 9735 with the remote control and the firmware version will display.

1. How do I activate subtitles in DivX video files?

The DXP-1000 supports the following subtitle formats: .SMI, .SUB, .SRT, .ASS, .TXT, .PSB, and .SSA. When a DivX movie with a subtitle file is loaded into a DXP-1000 player, 2 files will appear on the SMART NAVI on the TV screen. The first file is the DivX movie file, second is the DivX subtitle file with "?" Symbol.

To activate the DivX subtitle file by remote control:

1. Select the second file with the "?" symbol.
2. Press “Subtitle” and you will see "DivX subtitle is selected" at the top of the TV OSD.
3. Then select the first file and press ENTER or PLAY to play the DivX subtitled movie.

The movie will now play with subtitles.

Note: In some players the “Angle” button will need to be substituted for the “Subtitle” button.

2. How do I activate Progressive Scan support in my DXP-1000 Player?

Note: These instructions assume that there is a Progressive Scan TV used.

  1. Connect via YUV cables (not provided with the Player: YPbPr output at back of Avayon Player to the TV YPbPr input.
  2. Use the remote control to:
    • Go to General Set Up page -> Pic Mode, select correct Picture Mode
    • Go to Preference page -> Video output, select YPbPr
    • Press Video button, select progressive scan
  3. Be sure to select the correct Audio option for best performance for your configuration.

4. What video codecs are supported on the DXP-1000?

The Avayon DXP-1000 supports all video codecs that comply with the normal specifications of ISO-MPEG4, including: Advanced (except for Quarter Pixel), Simple Profile, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, XVID and DivX 3.11 is also supported. It does not support files with QPEL and GMC. In addition it supports the Nero Digital codec Standard Profile but not Nero Digital Standard AVC. 5. How do I use the 5.1 channel outputs from the Avayon Player?

Make sure the cables are properly connected as described in the manual. Then in setup, please choose audio setup, SPDIF output and set it to off. In addition go to the speaker set up page and then to “Downmix” and select “Off”.

6. Does the DXP-1000 support DivX V6.0?

The DXP-1000 will play back DivX V6.0 files with the same features as it plays back DivX V3, V4, and V5 files.

Yes, if the DivX files are encoded correctly, audio preference is set to SPDIF RAW and Downmix is set to Stereo.

1. Does the DXP-10P support an external hard drive?

The DXP-10P will support any External HD via USB. The main requirement is the External HD must be formatted to FAT 32. If the External HD is formatted with NTSF, the drive will not be seen the DXP-10P. The External HD can be powered via the USB Port or it's own AC Adapter.

1. What are the requirements for NERO Digital to play on my DXP-1000?

There is only one requirement to playback Nero Digital files on your DXP-1000: The Nero Digital videos you want to playback on the DXP-1000 must be encoded in the same Nero Digital Profile, or a lower Digital Profile, than the certified Profile of the device. For example, the DXP-1000 is certified for the Nero Digital Standard Profile (logo on the device), so it can playback all Nero Digital videos which a encoded with Nero Recode or Nero Vision in the profiles Mobile, Portable and Standard.

2. Does a video file being recoded have to meet certain standards to play on a DXP-1000?

Yes, the video file being recoded must not be copy guard protected. In addition when using Nero Recode, use the following settings.

  • Profile category: Nero Digital
  • Profile: Standard

 

3. Can I Recode a Backup Copy of my store bought DVD's and play them on my DXP-1000?

Yes, provided that the DVDs are not CSS, DRM or Copy protected.

  1. Should “out of synch” symptoms occur, the following solution should be used.

1. The “out of synch” symptoms

DivX and Xvid Video files encoded using VBR (variable bit rate) may result in the audio and video to be out of synch during playback on some consumer players. It is best to use CBR (constant bit rate) when encoding.

Should “out of synch” symptoms occur, the following solution should be used.

  1. Via the remote control, press the "FAST FORWARD" button, (>>)
  2. After a few frames pass, press the "ENTER" button, (ENTER)
  3. Audio and Video should now be in synch
  4. If not, repeat steps 1 & 2
  5. Still not in synch?
  6. Via the remote control, press the "FAST REVERSE BACKWARD" button (<<)
  7. After a few frames pass, press the "ENTER" button, (ENTER)
  8. Audio and Video should now be in sycnh
  9. If not, repeat steps 6 & 7

*This may not work on the first try.

*Try each method at least 3 times

*May not work on some files encoded with VBR.
